Prime
I went this afternoon to go see the movie Prime. I thought it was just ok. If you have seen the trailer you know the entire movie. If the ending was good it might have been worth seeing but I really didn't like the ending. Good thing that I paid for the early show. Last week I went and saw Elizabethtown. I kind of liked that one because the music was great. Up until about 5 years ago we only had one theater in Big Bear that had 2 movie screens. Lucky for me that they built another movie theater that has 3 screens so now we have lots of movie options.

Another Chamber Mixer
Yes another chamber mixer is all over. We host the last one of the season. The only one that I ever go. I think most of the people that show up just come for the food. Good thing it was only 2 hours long. In the picture from left to right Chris (my boss), Erin (his wife), Marty (the new guy), Tina (my office roommate) and me. It looks like we are having fun but we all know how to fake it.

Paddling with my Friends
After a week of not paddling it was good to go down to the harbor and meet with the gang and go out for a workout. Today was the day to start doing some work. 6 times 5 minutes pieces. A short but sweet workout a total of 30 minutes that some how turns into 2 hours. How does that always happen. From left to right is Fabulous Nicole, Fabulous Karen, Fabulous Suzi, and myself behind the camera was Paul.

Getting around
Started out the day at a womens longboard contest at Ocean Beach (OB). The waves where junk and the weather was overcast, cold and a light drizzle. I wasn't there to compete I was just a spectator. I was killing time before i had to head up to a ski function at Ranchcraft in San Diego. At 1pm I headed out to Poway to check out a snowboard rail jam in a the parking lot of K-5. That is where they had a flatbed truck with a flat down box attached to a ramp. Just bring in some blocks of ice and a chipper and you have snow for a contest. Lots of people hanging out and watching. Then I ended my day at a beerfest (more like drunkfest) at the San Diego Sports Arena. We sponsored the event and gave out tickets. It was a flop of a event. I hope we never do that again.

Town Trail
Got off work and had to go and do something. So I headed out behind my house for a short hike on Town Trail a mile long trail that is a gentle rolling path. It ends up at 2N10 and at that junction you can either go up the mountain or down to town. Right at the junction it has a great view of the lake. With all the rain and cool temps here the air was so crisp and clean. On the way home the rain started up once again. Glad I got a chance to get out.

Thunder and Lighting
What a night last night. I have never heard or seen so much thunder, rain and lighting. It must be that I live at 7000 Ft elevation and the clouds are so close. How can clouds and rain make so much noise. It was very cool for awhile but not all night long. I am sure that the entire town of Big Bear got no sleep last night. Hopefully tonight I will get a good nights sleep even thought the forecast is calling for more of the same tonight.

Celebrating John Rader
On September 19th we said goodbye to one of the most inspirational person I know John Rader. Today we all gathered together for a final paddle and party for the guy who started Offshore Canoe Club. He always had a vision for the team. We will all miss him and every time we see a rainbow or hear the song "huki lau" we will know he is looking over us.

Patty's Back!
This is my roommate Patty. She just got back from spending the entire summer in Alaska working for Era Helicopters. I think this is her 3rd summer in Alaska. She has worked most of the summers in National Parks around the Country. She always has the best stories to tell about her summer adventures and all the cool people that she has met along the way. I know winter is getting close when she shows back up.
